Sea
Biscuit Cottage is a charming and nicely appointed bungalow located
on Tybee Island, Georgia. Originally the cottage was built as a
garage, it was also thought to have been used as a servant's
quarters for a neighboring home and was left vacant and neglected
for many years, most recently used as a storage building. The
previous owner realized the potential that this quaint structure
possessed and enlisted the help and style of local designer Jane
Coslick to completely renovate and redecorate the cottage. Their
vision was to create a bungalow that really exemplified the laid
back and comfortable Tybee-style. In fact, the inspiration in naming
the cottage Sea Biscuit was due to the enormous task ahead;
appreciating, believing in and creating a thoroughbred out of what
looked to be at best a "work horse". The many months and labor
of love was surely worth it as the cottage is truly a gem; it was
even featured as the smallest of seven homes on the 2003 Tybee tour
of homes. There are many noteworthy details from the salvaged
Savannah gray brick flooring on the front porch, to the hand-painted
seahorses by local artist Pam Martin that adorn the hand-made
shutters and picket fence. The new owners and caretakers of Sea
Biscuit are Carrie and Scott Efird; they look forward to welcoming
you to Tybee and providing you with a truly unique and memorable
place to stay during your visit. |
